Chroma uses a special end-cap and perfect white LED light to compute true sRGB, CMYK, CIE L*a*b*, and Hex values, regardless of ambient light. How do you find the temperature of items you can’t reach or touch? With the Therma module, Variable Technologies provides the perfect one-tool solution to measuring temperature at a distance. Use NODE+Therma to inspect your home for poor insulation, check the heat of heavy machinery, or painlessly check your drink temperature. This is the first of several infrared sensors we’re cooking up, and we’re thrilled to make it available. (It’s a lot of fun to play with!)

Is it sensitive enough to measure a fever?
Yes! You can easily measure surface temperature without touching the surface. Therma is a convenient thermometer.

How far away can it accurately read temperature?
Therma can effectively read temperature at around 12-15'. It's important to note that the area Therma measures is shaped like a cone. The farther from a surface you are, the more points in your field of measurement and the less specific the temperature. The two LEDs on the module are for aiming, and they indicate how focused your reading is.

How long does it take to register a temperature?
Less than a second. The infrared camera that's reading the heat signature is continually feeding that data to your smart device.

Clima Overview

Whether you spend a lot of time on the trails or just want to better manage your greenhouse, the Clima module allows you to measure the climate around you. Sensing barometric pressure, ambient light, temperature, and humidity, NODE+Clima allows you to find your elevation while hiking up a mountain, check how well the landlord insulated the attic, or inspect the basement for humidity. It’s fun and functional.

We decided to hold off on that function for the first generation of Clima, but as we refine and improve the available modules we might add that to the line.
